Champion Chips

I had just showed to the youth basketball championship. Half of my team was warming up and waiting for everyone to show up. I joined them in the drills, and we were all observing the other team while getting ready. They were good, and they made a lot of shots in their warm up, but I thought that my team could win.

We went to the bench and my coach gave the team a pep talk, and told everyone what position to play. I was center, and my friend Alexander was the point guard. We had made some plays and were ready to use them in our final game. Everyone who was playing first went to check in them got on the court.

Our shoes squeaked as we jogged onto to our positions. Once both teams were ready Mason Prepared to jump. The ball goes up in the air, and Mason tips it to Alexander. We run down the court and right off the bat we score. The other tem brought it down the court, and we started defending. I stole the ball and passed it off.

I got into position right out of the three point line, and alexander passed me the ball. I take the shot and it flies into the net. Swish! The game was constantly going back and forth, Scoring or not. The shoes made high pitch squeaks when someone moved or faked another out. Forty-five minutes passed and it was close but we won!

When the buzzer went off my team was jumping up and down, and congratulating each other. We high five the other team and go to the awards room. My heart was pounding because of happiness and excitement. My team got a big trophy and each player got a medal. Pictures were being taken of our team and the trophy. I had so much fun, and I wish I could re-live that game.

Lights Out

The dark had covered the town like a black blanket. My sister, our friends, and I, were watching a movie in the basement. We had no idea what was about to happen. We were in the middle of a hilarious movie, and laughing and having a great time. The parents were upstairs chatting while they here laughter from the basement.

Our, I walk upstairs for a minute to grab something from upstairs. When I got there I spent some time to find my phone so I could find out what a character’s name in the movie was. While I was looking the lights go out in my room. I hear some screams from down stairs and I look out my window, and the lights from the houses around me were all going out. Power outage.

I run downstairs with a flash light I found on my desk in hand. My mom had found a flashlight too. It was fine on the main floor, but when I got to the basement, every one that was watching the movie was screaming, and tripping over their own feet. I aim the flashing at each one of them. With the light the screaming stopped and I told them it wasn’t just our house.

After we all calmed down we got extra lights and lit up the basement. We built a fort and continued the movie on my sister’s IPad.  We were laughing and saying how each one of us got stepped on or bruised something. The lights came on soon after, but we having so much fun I turned the lights off right away.

Champion

This book has action and adventure. Once I started reading this book I couldn’t stop. I was sucked into the book, and it felt like I was an extra character in the book. Champion is about the same characters that are in Legend and Prodigy (Day and June). They had just stopped and attach and this book is the aftermath, but with new adventures. This is a great book if you like action/science fiction/adventure. This was fun to read, the description was great in the book. Throughout the book I felt like I was in it as an extra characters watching from the shadows. I enjoyed this book, and I highly suggest it.

Rain

It was the night of the full moon, and I had just walked out of the place I was staying in Turks and Caicos. My cousins (Kaya and Siena) were wearing white close and so was my family. Our parent chatted while the kids walked down to the beach. We were having a full moon party and that’s why we were in whit close.

Once everyone was at the beach we went on a walk on the beachside. The moon lit up the sand and water as if it was daytime. My cousins, sister, and I jumped around on the beach. After about fifteen minutes of walking on the beach, we could see rain cloud rolling in. We kept walking.

The palm trees were blowing because of the breeze, but it felt kind of nice. The clouds got closer, and we could all tell that it was about to rain. I turn around and start walking back, and so does the rest of my family. A few rain drops start falling, so the parents walk faster, but I almost wanted it to start raining harder. And it did.

The parents start running the opposite way than the kids with all of the things we didn’t want to get wet, but my cousins, sister, and I all run into the rain. The rain made the sand feel like silk every step I took. Our faces were dripping water, and our close stuck to our bodies.

It kept raining for a few more minutes, then we walk to the house for dinner. We all talked about how the rain felt, and what we did in it. We couldn’t stop thinking about the rain, and we were still soaking wet.

Racing an Airplane

It was a hot day on Little Cayman, and my dad had just rented a scooter. He said I could drive it around the island. Going around Little Cayman would probably take about twenty minutes. He showed me how to go fast and slow and where the brake was. It seemed easy so I hop on and my dad rides on one behind me.

I rev the engine, and then drive off. The wind was blowing my hair, and the scooter was kicking up small pebbles behind me. I felt like I was going fast, but I was going the speed limit. We didn’t see any cars so my dad tells me to speed up. I slowly accelerate, then I se an airplane about to take off.

The pilot had just straitened out to take off. I slow down and come to a stop and look and the pilot. He smiles and me and tips is cap. I smile back, and notice his and raze. He starts counting down from five. He wanted to race me! His propellers speed up, and I rev the engine. 5,4,3,2,1!

His plane moves forward, as I speed off. I could feel some of the wind from the propellers. After all, the runway was next to the road. I go faster and so does the airplane. I look at it as it starts lifting off the ground. The pilot smiles at me again right before he picks up more speed and flies away.

I forgot my dad was behind me, so I slow down and look at my dad who was now beside my. I had a huge grin on my face. I had just raced an airplane! We continue the ride, and the whole time I was thinking I raced and airplane.

The A.T.V

We were at my aunt’s ranch in the summer. It was the second day there, and I had just woke up. I was still trying to wake myself up. I was the first one awake, but I few minute later my mom and sister are in the kitchen next to me. After we ate breakfast we started walking half a mile to where my aunt’s cabin was.

It was around 9:30 when we left the cabin so the sun was already out and I didn’t need a coat. The dogs were jumping around and checking out the horses. We were about half way to the cabin and my aunt, uncle, and cousin meet us. They had just been hanging around the horses, and they saw us and our dogs. We chat and explore on our way to the cabin.

When we arrived at the cabin I saw something behind the cabin. My cousin (forest) drives out on an A.T.V. He stops next to my sister and I, then points at me and says “take it for a spin.” An ear to ear grin runs across my face and I hop onto the vehicle after he hops off. He shows my how the go backwards and forwards. I slowly accelerate then get faster and faster.

I go about 20 yards then Forest says to back up. I do what he says and back up towards the cabin. Then he tells me to go back to our cabin, then drive back. I start off and accelerate faster this time. The air cooled me down as I drove to the cabin. I sped up as I went up the hill, and my cabin comes into view. I go around the back of the cabin while kick up mud and sticks.

On my way back my legs were dirty and I had windblown hair. I went faster and the horses seemed to be racing next to me. A trail of dust was following me, and I was having an amazing time. I thought in my head as the cabin came into view “I wish I owned on of these”.

Fireworks

The sun had just gone down at my uncle’s house in the mountains. It was the fourth of July. My dad and I had brought a plastic bag full of fireworks, and my uncle took a trash bag out of his garage. I looked inside, and it was three quarters full of both illegal and legal explosives. We walked down there dirt road to where there was a wide area with no trees or bushes, just a wide section of a road.

I take the fireworks out of my bag, and my dad helps my uncle do the same. I had brought: twelve roman candles, six sky rockets, one hundred bottle rockets, and a huge brick of firecrackers. All of my fireworks were from Wyoming.  My uncle had fountains, sky rockets, a mortar, and more. After we showcased our explosives, we set up and I ran to the house to get the fire extinguisher just in case something went wrong.

When I get back to the area my everyone was there, my aunt, my cousins, my sister, my mom, my dad, and my uncle. I was going to light the first firework. I chose my roman candle. It shoots multicolored fireballs that fit in a plastic tube. I hold it in my hand, light it, and aim it at the sky. Boom, Whoosh, Crack, Bang. The fireballs fly out of the tube like rockets, and explode high in the air.

After that the firework show for the family began. We light off skyrockets, more roman candles, firecrackers, and more. Some of them went off at the same time. Everyone was sitting on rocks, or blowing something up. The whole night I had fun, the sky was lighting up with many different colors, from our family, and others close by.

Painful

The sun was out, and my sister and I were on the trampoline. We hadn’t been on the trampoline in a while because of the snow, after all it was early spring. I had just taught myself how to backflip but I wanted to do it without bouncing. Before I tried my sister and I were just bouncing as planes flew overhead and clouds passed.

She was trying to teach me some things she learned in her gymnastics class, but I couldn’t do everything. However, she did teach me how to back handspring. I did a few backflips, but I was ready to try a standing one. I bend my knees, lean back, then throw my head backwards.

I soon as my feet left the ground I knew I did it wrong. As I was upside down I landed on my head. My body bends in a very uncomfortable way, and my legs slam down on the trampoline. My neck had cracked but didn’t break (I was sure), and because of the way my body bent I felt like I was hit by a truck.

My sister helped me inside while I could feel my heartbeat in my head.  Rite when I got in my mom gets my some ice. I lay down on the couch in pure agony, and put the ice on my neck. I turn on the T.V., and sigh because of relief and pain. It was a very painful moment, but I was glad it was over.

Red Rocks

After a long walk I reach a large stairway. My family and I could hear the crowd saddling in while we walk up the stairs. My mom hands a person are tickets and he lets us through the gate. The amphitheater was huge! It was almost full, people were everywhere. We walk up another staircase, and we find our seats.

We could see all of Denver from our seats, and the sun was setting to the left of the city. We could see the band doing their final prep for the performance so my sister and I hurry to get some food and a drink. After five or so minutes we are back at our seats. Everyone in the crowd was chatting and meeting the people next to them. The main lights aim at the stage, it was about to begin.

The drum gives a riff and the first song starts. The music was so loud I could feel myself vibrating. The band was One Republic, so at least I like the super loud sounds. The whole crowd (including our family) was jumping up and down and screaming. I could tell this would be an amazing concert.

Prodigy

I loved this book! Prodigy is the second book of the Legend series. It is a very interesting book, and I thought the topic the book was written about was very cool. It is about the same characters that are in Legend (Day and June). They make new friends in this story and they have to go through new adventures as well. They meet up with the Patriots and wreak havoc in the Republic of America and somehow get to the Colonies of America. While you read Prodigy the author splits the book up between Day and June. This book is a very cool and futuristic book. I highly suggest reading this after you read the first one.

The Wave

It was an overcast day in Tofino Canada, and we had brought our surf boards. I stepped out of the trees and onto the beach with my surf board in hand. The waves were about seven to eight foot swells rising off the water. I could see some patches of blue in the sky but it was mostly cloudy. I put my wet suit on because the water was fifty degrees. I put the Velcro strap around my ankle and charge into the water.

I jump onto the board, and the water splashes my and seeps into the wet suit. I was cold at first but I got used to it. I go about forty to fifty yards off the beach, and that’s where I road my first wave. It wasn’t big but it was a fun small one. After that fog had rolled in, and I couldn’t see the beach when I got out. I have my head on a swivel looking for a wave.

Right behind me I see a large wave, it was around eight to ten feet off the water. I lay on the board and start to paddle with my hands the wave just started to curl, and I was on it. The nose of my board was pointing down and I was going fast. I couldn’t see shore yet but I could hear my mom and dad yelling that they were filming. The wave crashes, and I go even faster. The board was shaking, but I stayed on.

When I reach the shore my parent congratulated me and so did some people who were close to them. Throughout the rest of the day I mostly surfed, but also chilled on the beach. The fog had eventually cleared, and most of the clouds vanished as well. I had a great day but that nothing beat that first wave.

The Jump

My family and I were in the mountains on a hiking trail. It was a sunny day, but we were shaded by the trees. This was one of our favorite hikes, and we were full of energy. We had just reached the top of the tree line, we were hiking to a lake. We could see the lake in the distance.

When we got to the lake a found some rocks we could sit on, so we could relax and eat lunch. The lake was beautiful. The water was a little choppy, but we it wasn’t cold. I turn around to see where my sister was, and I noticed here climbing a rock. I join her. When I got to the top I saw her eating lunch.

We could see our parents, and the whole lake. The view was amazing. I look down off the rock and thought that it was about seven or eight feet off the ground. I stand up and ask my sister to film what I was about to do.

My sister gives me a thumbs up. I jump. I was soaring through the air for what seemed like forever, the wind was maneuvering around me like I was an airfoil. I had jumped up before going down so I dropped about ten feet. I hit the ground, and I landed it. My whole family saw and so did some strangers. I was so happy I landed it and my sister got the whole thing on video.

The Alarm

I was watching a movie in my room waiting for dinner to come. My favorite scene comes on in my movie. A minute or two pass and in the middle of the scene the fire alarm goes off. I had an alarm in my room so it was loud. My ears were hurting because of the defining sound of the alarm. I run out of the room and jump down the stairs, then sprint out the front door. When I got outside the alarm was still going off.

My sister, my mom, and my dad were all outside and then my mom says something. “Logan, did you have your window open?” she says. “Yes I did” I reply. “Oh. I bet the smoke from the grill went through the widow” she says with a sound of relief. We all go inside and start fanning under the alarms with books and magazines. There was no fire it was just the grill.

The alarm stops beeping after a chaotic fifteen minutes. We all went down stairs and eat the dinner my mom and made for us. We were all laughing and talking about the way we got out of the house, and how some of us fell. It was chaotic, sort of fun, and a good drill.

Home

I put my bags in my mom’s car. My dad, my mom, and I step into the car. I notice the old empty bag of chips that I had shoved in a compartment in the car. It had been there since before I left. Once we are on our way back home from school we talk all about my class trip to Utah. I talked about all of the activities we did that trip, how much fun it was, and how it felt like I was gone forever.

We pull into the garage and everything looks, and smells like it was when I left. My dad takes the large sleeping bag and my bag out of the car. I grab my backpack and my mom opens the door. The dogs are waiting for me: Fenway (the little 18 pound dog), and Homer (the big 125 pound dog). Homer tackles me and licks my face. I get up, wipe the slobber off my face, and pick up Fenway, and he licks my face as well. Then I see my sister standing in front of me. “I missed you,” she says. “I missed you too, it felt like I was gone for an eternity,” I say. I show everyone the pictures of my trip.  After getting hugs, kisses, dogs licks, coming home and getting greeted by my family, and showing everyone the memories that were created and we will be able to keep, I knew I was home.

The .22

I walk into my aunt’s house. She takes something off the wall, it’s black and long. It is a gun. She tells me that it is the real deal. It fired the .22 caliber. She calls my mom and my sister so we can all shoot it. Before shooting she teaches us hunter’s safety, but after that we walk down towards the river.

She set up a card board box with a target on it about 40 yards away. My cousin Forest brings a bag of ammo and a magazine. I put ten bullets in the magazine and put it in the gun. I chamber a round and aim at the target. I fire a shot and dust springs up behind the target. I knew I hit the target.

After five rounds the gun jams and I knew what to do. Forest walks over to me to show me what to do but I had already done the process. I finish off the magazine and we go check out the target. I had shot all twenty rounds into a circle about five inches wide. It was fun to shoot a .22 and I was a better shot then I thought.

Kindred

Kindred is a great book. It’s about a husband (Kevin) and wife (Dana) in the 1970s. One day a young boy Rufus is about to die. Rufus somehow makes Dana time travel to him and she has to save his life. Throughout the story Dana time travels again and again sometime (willing or not) she brings Kevin. She finds out at some point that she has been time traveling to the 1800s during slavery. Dana and Kevin find a way to survive in the past with Rufus’s help. I loved this book! It was historical fiction book and it had a cool way to think about time travel. This was one of my favorite books and I suggest it.

Allergy Shot

I walk into the waiting room and wait till the person that gives me my shot call my name. I take my book out of my backpack and wait. “Logan?” the nurse calls my name and I walk into a room. There is a box full of used shots and a box with unused ones. The nurse gets my serum and puts them into the shot. I was at my largest and most painful shot.

She pinches my arm and counts to three. 1, 2, 3. I don’t mind shots but this one hurt. Then the next arm. This one hurt even more than the last. It felt like a bee sting! I walk out of the room rubbing my arm glad it was over. I go back to the waiting room and sit down for twenty minute, as usual.

My time was finally over so I get my arm checked. As always it was fine. And she said see you again next week. I came every week, and I hated it, but I eventually got used to the pain and the amount of shots I get. Even though I didn’t like it, it was helping me. I am not looking forward to next week.

Snow Day

The field was big and we all had our snow gear on. We had just showed up to a park that had trees and a field. We had a shovel with us so we could make forts and things to hide behind. There was snow all over and the giant flakes were falling everywhere. It was the perfect conditions for a snowball fight.
It was three vs. three and we were all super excited to start. We made walls of snow and prepared some extra snowballs. One team was in one set of trees, the other was across the field in a different set of trees. We had all made barriers in the field and on our sides. We were ready to begin.
3, 2, 1! Two of my team members run into the field to attach the other team. On the way I face planted in the snow, but I kept going. We hide behind trees and barriers and the first snowball was thrown. I hit on of their team members. The war began. For a few hours this went on and it was so fun. This snow day was one to remember.

The Tunnel

Deeper, Deeper, and Deeper. The boat is still floating above us. It was my fourth open water dive. After this I would be a certified scuba diver. We get to 40 feet deep and swim towards the wall. The water was warm and we were all enjoying the reef. The wall was so cool once we arrived. But when we got there we were 60 feet deep. We spent time at the wall, but we went to the flat reef.

There we could see everything we could see at the wall, but from a different prospective. We explore for a while but the dive master takes us to a whole in the coral. It was a tunnel under the coral. The dive master goes first, I go second. When I got in it I was stunned that it was full of life. I thought it would be empty, but there were crabs, squirrel fish, and many other animals.

It got a little colder inside but nothing surprising. When we came out of the tunnel we were back on the wall and we continued the dive. That was an amazing experience and I would never forget it. When we got out of the water we talked about the adventure, and how I couldn’t have been cooler.

The Crash

The snow I falling all around, we look up the hill and so much snow is piled on the ground. We were the only people on the side we were sledding on. I had a face mask, ski goggles, and a winter hat to keep my ears warm. The snowflakes were huge and they added to the amount of snow every minute. My friend, my sister, and I all lined up getting ready for a race.

3, 2, 1! We all go forward at the same time and speed down the hill. Half way down the hill I caught an edge and my sled turns sideways and I hit my sister. The falls off the sled and tumbles. Then my friend runs into the back of my sled and slides face down in the snow. I was still sideways, then I hit snow and side role in the air. I hit the soft snow and I had it down my shirt.

We were all recovering after the crash but none of us got hurt. I stood up and both my sister and my friend tackle me. They were all piled on top of me throwing snow on me for payback. After the attack we all stand up and laugh. We had fun the rest of the day and we will never forget the crash.

What a Catch

It was a warm day and my dad and I went to the park to spend the afternoon having fun. We brought the football and the Soccer ball. The grass was brown and a little damp, after all it was late fall. We had been playing soccer for a while and we were having so much fun. I had put some marks on the brand new soccer ball.

We had been playing soccer for a while and I wanted to play some football. The sun was ducking down behind the trees and it was getting dark, so we wanted to make some awesome catches. “Make it a jumper” I said to my dad. He threw football a little too high so I couldn’t reach it. The next throw I was running, he throws it in front of me and I dive.

I was airborne for about five feet and I reach one arm out. I tipped it up I the air and it kind of hurt my hand. I catch the ball after I tipped it up and I stayed on the ground because I was stunned I had made the catch. I stand up and yell “YES!!!” I was so happy and I wish I had got it on video.

Surfing

It was a beautiful beach and the and there was a salt water lake twenty feet away from the ocean. We drew a surf board in the sand and that’s when the private lesson started. The instructor teaches us the techniques first then we put the board in the lake. We do all of the techniques in the lake before we actually surfed.

Finally we went to the ocean. I put the board in the water and we paddle out. A wave comes towards me and I paddle on the wave. I put my knee up first then I fully stand up. The first wave I road went all the way to shore.

The rest of the afternoon surf, sometimes falling off sometimes staying on. Once, my nose went into the water and my face was fully submerged in saltwater and I got a face full of nasty water. Even though I had some wipeouts I still and fun.

The Jump

It was a snowy day in Vail and there was a large jump in the distance. There was a gap between the jump and the landing ramp. It would have been the biggest jump I had gone off of. I went into the terrain park and skied toward the large jump.

I stop at the top of the hill before the jump while my dad gets ready to film the moment. He gives me a thumbs up and I drop in. I fly through the cold wind and go off the jump. For one moment I was flying. But when I hit the ground I was leaning too far back, and my skies flew out from under me and pop off my feet.

My poles were ripped off of me taking my gloves with them. I keep sliding for another ten yards the come to a stop. My wrists were hurting and so were my legs. Even though I might have hurt myself, my dad got the whole thing on video. It was a great fail video and the wipeout was worth it.

The Big Catch

My dad and I were walking along the river with fly fishing rod in hand. I love fly fishing and we already caught some fish. We were walking along the Rio Grand six hours away from Denver. My aunt’s house is up there and we go up at least once a year. This time I fly fishing with my dad.

We step out through an opening in the trees and I could see fish swimming around in the cold water. I take a one cast, and another, and on the third cast a fish jumps out of the water and onto the fly. It pulls the rod and I start fighting it. It starts to loses its energy so I reel it in. I take the fish out of the water, I held it while my dad measured it. 18 inches! It was the biggest fish I had caught. It was a great catch. I caught some more fish that day but none of them were as big as the 18 incher.

Dave and Busters

Ring, crash, ding ding ding. The arcade is super loud. Noises of games and activities are in every direction.  It took a few minute to adjust but after I did I was already have tons of fun. I see a game across the room. It was the kind of game where you pull a lever and a wheel spins till it lands on a number. The number is the amount of tickets you get.

I walk over to the game and swipe my card. I pull the lever and the wheel spins. It slows down. 40, 100, 10, one more, 1000! I won the ultimate jackpot. I got 1000 tickets. My friend were watching and we all went crazy. The tickets start pouring out of the machine a few minute later the tickets stop and I fold them up into my large cup. It was so fun and it made my day.
