The False Prince

The False Prince is my favorite book I have read. I couldn’t put the book down. It is a fast moving book and it is full of adventure, suspense, and action. The False Prince is about three young men chosen to compete against each other, one will become a false prince. Throughout the book there is competitiveness, blackmailing, force, and betrayal. This book is such a page turner. If you like a book that has action and adventure I highly suggest reading it.

What a Goal

I arrive at the soccer field excited and ready to play. My team and I do our warm ups preparing us for the game. What I didn’t know is that I would score my longest shot toward the end of the game. Some of my teammates and I run onto the field ready to score goals our team was kicking off.

The whistle blew and one teammate kicks team ball to the other then passes it to me. I was playing center mid. I receive the ball, dribble to the side then pass. My teammate sprints while dribbling then crosses the ball to the middle. The kid on the other team steels the ball. The game is constantly going back and forth between the two teams.

After half time my team had scored twice and so does the other. Towards the end of the game I get passed to close to the half line on the right side of the field. I dribble to about 20 feet outside of the box. I take the shot from far out and the ball sores until it flies into the top right corner of the goal. I couldn’t believe I made the shot. The crowd starts screaming either of happiness for our team or disappointment for the other. The shot was the tiebreaker and my team won the game 2 to 3. It was a well-matched game and both teams played hard till the very end.

My 12th Birthday

This year I wanted to do something for my birthday that I had never done before, something fun but also intense. I decided I wanted to have and airsoft battle. We were going to have a battle at American Paintball Coliseum. My friends and I walk into the coliseum. The Place reeks of destroyed paintball and co2. We all rent our weapons and ammo and walk to the airsoft section. We put our masks on our heads, load our weapons, and get ready to battle.

We walk into the arena and head over to our base. We were about to have a team death match. The supervisor yells 3,2,1! The game began. Boom, Crack, Bang, Bang, the plastic airsoft pellets hit the walls all around us. I tell my friend to follow me. We run to a covered position. BOOM! One of the enemies flash bangs blow up about ten feet away from us. The sound was so loud my ears were ringing after it went off. I turn around and see two enemies trying to flank my team. I take aim at one of the guys and fire. The man waves his hand in the air and yells, “hit” signaling he was out. I shot the second guy and he did the same thing as the first guy.  Almost right after I hit those two guys I turn around and a guy shoots me. I raze my hand, yell hit, then I walk out of the arena.

My friends and I had many battles like the first one throughout the day. I had so much fun that day battling with my friends even though I had a few welts where I got shot. My 12th Birthday was so fun and it was very memorable.

Legend, by Mary Lu
Review by Logan Simpson

Legend is a page-turner. It is an action packed book. When I was reading Legend I couldn’t put it down. The book is set in a futuristic time period. Legend is about a teen named Day; Day is an outcast and a famous criminal. He escapes danger, and death throughout the adventure. Legend switches from two different people from the beginning to end, Day and June. June is one of the top solders in the country. The two different perspectives make the story more interesting then it all ready is. Legend is one of my favorite books. If you like action this will be a great choice to read, and I highly suggest it.

Ski Adventure

I slip off the chairlift and slide to the mound. The mound is what my dad and I call a large pile of snow next to the Blue-sky basin lift at Vail. My dad and I drink a sip of water to stay hydrated before we head toward our run of choice.

I meet my dad at the trail we wanted to go down. I look off a (at the time) seemingly deadly drop that was around four to five feet down. I was going to go off my first cliff. I have been eyeing this cliff naturally made of snow for about a year, and today I was finally going to ski off of it.

There was lots of deep snow at the bottom of the drop off so I wouldn’t hurt myself if I fell. My dad tells me that he will go first to show me how to do it properly, but before that he tells me how to jump off without hurting myself. My dad flies off the cliff. It was now my turn, no turning back now.

I turn sideways, plant my poles in the deep chilling snow, and prepare my self to jump off the cliff. I push myself upward with my poles, lean, and jump off the cliff. All of a sudden I was airborne. I felt a cense weightlessness, I felt like I was flying through the air.

When I hit the ground a great feeling of accomplishment. I take a few turns down the double black diamond and stop were my dad was filming me from. When he stops filming I say “lets do it again!”
